Does your blog show up in Google? There are so many things on the internet, how will anyone find you?

1.Keywords

What are keywords?
Keywords are what someone types into Google at the beginning of their search. The exact phrase that they type in is the keyword. Keywords containing multiple words are called long tailed keywords.

What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Google being the largest and most powerful search engine on the planet calls the shots. Keywords are how Google finds your content and makes it available for someone searching for it.Doesn’t it make sense to want to be on the top of the listing on Google? How else would you ever get found? There is a tool available right in Google called the Google Keyword Planner. You can find it by searching for “keyword planner”, on Google. or click here https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner
This is a free tool but requires a Google AdWords account. You can sign up for free. If you already use gmail it will automate the process. Use the keyword planner to determine the best keywords in your niche. When searching try to use long tailed keywords. The more words the better, as long as there are enough searches per month. There is even a graph showing which months get more traffic.Google Keyword Planner will also suggest keyword ideas. Use the related keywords to come up with ideas for more keywords. They will suggest keywords that you never would have thought of on your own. I love this feature and use it all the time.I like to pick a few keywords that I feel I can rank for and copy and paste them into a note pad file.I take the related keywords and put them back into the keyword planner to come up with even more keyword ideas.
You can do this over and over, coming up with some really good keywords that are worth keeping.I usually put together a list of all the keywords I want to go for in a file with the search results next to each.

This way I can just go back to my file and get ideas instead of doing the research all over again. If you stay within your niche doing this once a month or so is all you’ll ever need.It shouldn’t take long to come up with a few good long tailed keywords using this method.

If you are waisting hours on keyword research just stop. It’s not worth it. You should be putting your time toward productive activities like writing/creating content. Your content, if done well, should have plenty of keywords in it naturally.

Beginners should try to stay with the 1000 to 3000 searches per month. These keywords get traffic, but are not so competitive, so you have a chance of rating for that keyword in the search results. There’s no way you’re going to rank for “make money online” when the competition is so high. There are 110,000 searches per month and very high competition competing for it.
Did you know YouTube is owned by Google? Also YouTube is the number 2 search engine in the world.Use the keyword and variations of it in the tags when posting any content be it on a blog or a video on YouTube. The keyword you are trying to rank for should be in the title. In fact, if the keyword is the title even better. To rank on YouTube this is a must.

A good title should be about 6 words and not more then 65 characters. 65 characters is all that fits on the search results displayed by Google.

Example:-
see my post on titles here:7 Tips for Creating High Converting

Titles mention the keyword and related keywords through out the article and/or video. Don’t over do it or go out of your way to have every good related keyword in your content.Google is not dumb, they have been doing this longer than any of us, they’ve seen every trick come and go.

Finding great keywords and then trying to force them into the content doesn’t flow right. Google learned that trick a long time ago.
A good rule is your keyword should appear in the content a few times, about 5 to 6 times in a 2000 word post, and related keywords will help tremendously, scattered throughout the content.

Researching keywords is totally optional and not completely necessary according to Neil Patel.Neil Patel is a top blogger in the industry. His personal bog gets over 700,000 visitors a month. His corporate blog get over 800,000,000 visitors per month. I’d say he knows a bit about blogging.
I got to meet Neil at a recent event in Las Vegas where he taught us blogging.Neil says don’t waist too much time researching keywords. In fact he doesn’t do it at all.Neil suggests just creating a great title and writing naturally letting the keywords happen as they may.
According to Neil,if your content is 2000 or more words, that you should naturally rank for a few keywords. The idea is to write naturally and not try for keywords. If you are staying within your niche your content will do the work for you.

There is another free tool from Google called Google Analytics. Use this to see what keywords you actually rank for after your post has been published. You can then take these keywords and incorporate them into your content or change your title to match what you rank for.You can always go back and update blog articles as long as you don’t change the URL slug.

2.Content Marketing

SEO is actually all about content marketing. There is some confusion over how SEO and content marketing fit together. The problem is that SEO and content marketing are not integrated, they are treated like two separate things, when in fact, they blend together. Some people are saying that content marketing replaces SEO.
This is not true. How can content marketing replace SEO, if the only way to have successful content marketing is to have SEO? That doesn’t make sense.

The differences between SEO and content marketing.–

SEO is technical or narrow– content marketing is more holistic or broad.

How content marketing and SEO come together.Think about it like this, SEO makes demands and content marketing fills those demands.SEO demands content. Content marketing is content.SEO could not exist without content. You need words, articles, etc..Content is King.

What is content marketing?
It is the practical application of SEO using keywords and content.SEO demands keywords and content marketing provides the keywords. The only way to use your keywords is to put them into your content.SEO demands backlinks and content marketing provides backlinks. You need to have content in order to backlink to another article.SEO demands consistency and content marketing requires it. Consistency is the most important thing incontent marketing.

Google likes fresh content, they always have.New content on Google is constantly pushing older content down the search results. Having an older website putting out fresh content is the most powerful strategy.
You can’t have SEO without content marketing and you can’t have content marketing without SEO.In conclusion, SEO is actually allabout content marketing. And content marketing is all about SEO.

3.Stories

For 2016 the SEO trend seems to be going towards stories.Publishers are outranking businesses because they’re not trying to sell a product, instead they’re telling stories.Today you need to brand yourself with a story.
Step 1 – Create a story around yourbrand and stay consistent to it.
Step 2 – Be transparent with your brand, use emotions and be authentic.
Step 3 – Promote your story through content generation, social media, backlinking, and syndication.

The biggest product you’re selling is you. If people like you and your content they will be more willing to buy from you.

Take the Unstoppable Family for instance, they travel the world telling their incredible story. Brain and Rhonda Swan have made a living by living up to their brand the Unstoppable family. They have been traveling the world for 7 or 8 years now. Their daughter has more stamps in her passport than most adults. Both Rhonda and Brian gave up great corporate jobs to pursue their dreams of traveling the world while making an income online. Rhonda was a professional marketer and Brian was an engineer. Both were making 6 figures.
From business suits to bathing suits… Now they are beyond successful by promoting their story. They also have a tv show in iPASTV.
